[Guide on verbal and physical abuses]
For any reason, violence is not acceptable: Employers or managers should not physically or verbally abuse workers for any reason, including accidents or work errors. If this occurs, you can report it to the police (for violence) or the Ministry of Employment and Labor (for harassment) to have the perpetrator punished and claim damages.
- Verbal violence is also harassment:
Not only physical hitting, but also habitual profanity, abusive language, and insulting behavior constitute obvious workplace harassment.
- Guarantee of workplace change:
If the Ministry of Employment and Labor recognizes that you "cannot continue working" due to sexual harassment, sexual violence, assault, habitual verbal abuse, etc., then you can change your workplace. This change is not included in the allowed count of workplace change for EPS workers.
- Take a counteraction together:
If you are assaulted, do not worry alone but notify it to your friends, a migrant support organization, and your trade union to have a counteraction together with assistance from an expert.
- Evidence is the most important:
It is advantageous when reporting the incidents later if you secure evidence immediately after the incident occurs, such as obtaining witness statements, recording conversations, video taking, and taking photos of injured sites.
